Product information "TC2030-MCP · RJ12 Cable for Microchip ICD"
Short description
Connects a 6-pin Plug-of-Nails™ target (legged) via an RJ12 modular connector to a Microchip ICD programmer.
Connections
| Side | Pins | Connector | Pitch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Board (Tag-Connect) | 6 | Footprint TC2030, with Legs | 1.27 mm (0.05″) |
| Debugger | 6 | Modular plug RJ12 (6P6C) | — |
Pin assignment: mirrored — contact 1 on pin 6, contact 6 on pin 1 — the full table is in the "Technical data" tab. Assignment measured by us — not yet documented by the manufacturer.
Compatible: Microchip programmers with an RJ12 socket — ICD 3, ICD 4, PICkit 3, PM3.
Not, or not directly, compatible
- 6-pin, 2 × 3, 2.54 mm (0.1″): TC2030-IDC
- 6-pin, single row, 2.54 mm (0.1″) — Microchip PICkit 3/4/5: TC2030-PKT
- 10-pin, 2 × 5, 1.27 mm (0.05″) — Cortex connector, e.g. Keil ULINK2: TC2030-CTX
- 10-pin, 2 × 5, 2.54 mm (0.1″) — e.g. PEmicro Multilink, USB-Blaster: TC2030-ALT
- 14-pin, 2 × 7, 1.27 mm (0.05″) — STDC14, e.g. ST-LINK V3: TC2030-CTX-STDC14
- 20-pin, 2 × 10, 1.27 mm (0.05″) — Cortex with trace, e.g. Keil ULINK Pro: TC2030-CTX-20
Easily confused: Check your device for a telephone-style socket.
In use with these devices
Microchip ICD 3, ICD4 · Microchip PICkit 3 · Microchip PM3 · CCS Programmers · Targets: Microchip PIC, PIC32, dsPIC (PIC ICD/ICSP)
What counts is the connector, not the device name: compare the connector on your device with the table above. If it carries a different one, the route goes through an adapter board.
Variants
TC2030-MCP-NL — no legs, smaller footprint. TC2050-IDC — 10-pin alternative. TC2030-IDC-NL-10 — IDC ribbon variant.
| Bauform: | Legged |
|---|
Pin assignment
| RJ12 | Signal | TC2030 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | NC / LVP | 6 |
| 2 | PGC (ICSPCLK) | 5 |
| 3 | PGD (ICSPDAT) | 4 |
| 4 | GND | 3 |
| 5 | VDD | 2 |
| 6 | MCLR / VPP | 1 |
The order is mirrored: contact 1 of the footprint sits on pin 6 of the modular plug. The signals are Microchip ICSP — if you know the TC2030 footprint from the ARM world, note the difference: ground is on contact 3, not contact 5.
