Where Tag-Connect is used in the field

Most people meet Tag-Connect on the development bench first. The larger share of the cables we ship, however, goes into production and into field service.

Production programming

In manufacturing, every assembly is programmed once. A soldered connector that is never used again costs a component, an assembly step and board height — at five-figure volumes, that is where the footprint pays for itself.

Typical products: dishwashers, washing machines, beverage and coffee machines, vending machines.

Service at the customer site

At some manufacturers, every service engineer carries a cable in their toolbox. On site, it is used to read the fault memory or load new firmware — without dismantling the appliance or replacing the assembly.

This use has different priorities from development work: the cable has to stay put without tools, survive being carried around, and be replaceable once worn.

Development and small series

On the bench, other things matter: the cable should stay in place on its own so that both hands are free. That is what the legged version and the retaining clip for the no-legs version are for.
