Easily confused: Between 2 mm and 2.54 mm there is only 0.54 mm per pin — across seven pins in a row that adds up to just over 3 mm. Measure yours if you are unsure.
What you need it for
Edge-Connect places the contacts on the edge of the board rather than on its surface. The target board needs no mating connector at all — just the plated half-holes along the edge and the holes for the guide pins. That saves space and the cost of a component on every board you build.
What "2AP" means
Two guide pins instead of one. The connector cannot be seated askew and stays reproducible over repeated cycles. Tag-Connect recommends this version for all new designs using the 14-pin Edge-Connect.
Compatibility, important
ECV3 is the third generation and is not compatible with the earlier Edge-Connect families. If you are working with an older board, you need the older cable — both remain available.

About the 2 mm pitch
2 mm sits between the two common pitches 1.27 mm (0.05″) and 2.54 mm (0.1″). The three do not mate with one another, and the difference from 1.27 mm is hard to see by eye. Measure if in doubt.

So it is your debugger that decides, not your board. If in doubt, measure the pin spacing on your programmer.
